GENCO subsidiary awarded government contract valued at up to $40.6 million to provide distribution services for Defense Distribution Center San Diego, Ca.
PITTSBURGH, Pa. - November 22, 2005 - GENCO today announced that its subsidiary, GENCO Infrastructure Solutions (GIS), was selected by the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) to provide material distribution service support for the Defense Distribution Center San Diego, Ca. (DDDC). The indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity firm fixed-price contract has a base contract period of two years plus three one-year options and is valued at $40.6 million. GIS will commence work on December 1, 2005.

DDDC is one of the most mechanized centers in DLA. Its mission is to provide routine and high priority distribution operations for a large concentration of Department of Defense activities within the Southern California area, including tailored distribution services through the Material Processing Center. DDDC's customer base includes 60 home ported ships, 86 major shore commands, commercial repair activities, transient ships from both U.S. and foreign navies and aircraft maintenance activities at Naval Base San Diego and Navy Air Station North Island.

Under the contract, GIS will perform all receipt, storage, issuance and transportation services while its small business subcontractor, Akima Management Services, will perform packaging, packing, preservation and marking services.
