Pittsburgh, PA - October 1, 2004M - GENCO announced today the results of a study conducted by Armstrong & Associates, Inc. a supply chain management consulting and market research group that has evaluated over 140 third-party logistics providers (3PLs) and their technology solutions.
GENCO commissioned Armstrong & Associates to evaluate its systems versus other 3PL and best-of-breed systems vendor solutions. The evaluation used multiple criteria to get a clear, objective understanding of market landscape and competitive strengths of software solutions available through 3PLs.
Information from the evaluation will drive installation, development and improvement opportunities moving forward for each of GENCO's software solutions: R-LOG® (RMS), D-LOG® (WMS) and ShipIO® (TMS). The knowledge extracted from the study will help GENCO optimize integration of their own software solutions with other technologies in the marketplace. The long-term goal is to create the most logical and seamless solutions that are most beneficial and intuitive for customers.
GENCO received "good" or "excellent" ratings in 15 out of 17 measurement categories from visibility and optimization to execution, implementation and handling. Overall, GENCO was strongest in WMS Reverse Logistics, Inventory Management, Receiving, Putaway and Replenishment.
Armstrong & Associates concluded that GENCO has very robust WMS offerings that act as the platform for distribution and returns processing. GENCO's proprietary software R-LOG® for returns processing and D-LOG® for distribution services both showed extensive receiving, putaway, picking and inventory capabilities. These software solutions support significant value-added services such as kitting, redeployment of returned goods, subassembly and cross docking.
